The meeting opened at 2.09 pm.

1. Inquiry into the availability on the NHS of cancer treatment drugs: The Committee took evidence from—

Dr Jean Turner, Scotland Patients Association; and Professor Peter Johnson, Chief Clinician, Cancer Research UK

and then from—

Dr Harpreet Kohli, Medial Advisor, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland; Dr Ken Paterson, Chairman, Dr Andrew Walker, Health Economic Assessor, Scottish Medicines Consortium; and Mr Andrew Dillon, Chief Executive, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence

and then from—

Dr Marianne Nicholson, Consultant in Clinical Oncology, Dr Roelf Dijkhuizen, Medical Director, NHS Grampian; Professor Alan Rodger, Medical Director, Beatson Regional Oncology Centre, Scott Bryson, Specialist in Pharmaceutical Public Health, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Dr Frances Elliot, Medical Director, NHS Fife; and Ewan Morrison, Lead Pharmacist, South East Scotland Cancer Network

2. Notification of new petitions: The Committee noted the new petitions lodged since the last Committee meeting.

3. Mainstreaming equalities in the work of the Scottish Parliament: The Committee considered a paper by the Clerk and agreed its response to the Convener of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee.

4. Scottish Government's consultation on 2014 Commonwealth Games - Delivering a lasting legacy for Scotland: The Committee considered a paper from the Clerk and agreed its response to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing on this consultation.

The meeting closed at 5.00 pm.
