Remit:

To consider and report on (a) the financing and delivery of local government and local services and planning; and (b) housing, regeneration, anti-poverty measures and other matters (apart from sport) falling within the responsibility of the Minister for Communities and Sport.

Subordinate Legislation

The Committee reports to the Parliament as follows—

1. At its meeting on 24 September 2008 the Local Government and Communities Committee considered the following affirmative instrument—

the Public Appointments and Public Bodies etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 (Amendment of Specified Authorities) Order 2008 (SSI 2008/draft).

2. John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, moved—

S3M-2567: That the Local Government and Communities Committee recommends that the draft Public Appointments and Public Bodies etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 (Amendment of Specified Authorities) Order 2008 be approved.

3. After debate, the motion was agreed to.

4. At its meeting on 24 September 2008 the Local Government and Communities Committee also considered the following affirmative instrument—

the Housing Grants (Assessment of Contributions) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2008 (SSI 2008/draft).

5. Stewart Maxwell, Minister for Communities and Sport, moved—

S3M-2569 Nicola Sturgeon: That the Local Government and Communities Committee recommends that the draft Housing Grants (Assessment of Contributions) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations be approved.

6. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
