The meeting opened at 10.02 am.
1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee agreed to take items 4 and 5 in private.
2. Subordinate legislation: The Committee considered the following negative instrument—
the Specified Products from China (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (Scotland) Regulations 2008 (SSI 2008/148)
and agreed to make no recommendation in relation to the instrument.
3. Public Health etc. (Scotland) Bill: The Committee considered the Bill at Stage 2 (Day 1).

Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 32, 35, 36, 46 and 47 were agreed to without amendment.
Schedule 1 and sections 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, , 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 and 53 were agreed to as amended.
The Committee ended consideration of the Bill for the day section 53 having been agreed to.
4. Public Health etc. (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee considered further written evidence on the Bill and agreed to seek further evidence from COSLA, the Society of Chief Officers of Environmental Health, the Sunbed Association, the Law Society of Scotland and the Scottish Retail Consortium.
5. Mental health services for deaf and deafblind people (in private): The Committee agreed to take evidence at a future meeting from the petitioner of public petition PE808 and interested parties and to seek oral evidence from the Scottish Government at a subsequent meeting.
