The Health and Sport Committee has a number of commitments that will occupy a significant amount of its time over the next year:

• Scrutiny of the Scottish Government budget–November and December 2007.
• The Public Health etc. (Scotland) Bill – Stage 1 (and any Stage 2) consideration will occupy much of spring 2008.

The Committee has also made a number of commitments for one-off sessions, including:

• the review of sportscotland
• the report of the NHSScotland Resource Allocation Committee
• the proposed Local Healthcare Bill (post consultation)
• the Chief Medical Officer on recent research in health inequalities

On 3 October 2007, the Committee formally agreed to undertake inquiry work on three health and one sport-related topic - details of these can be found by clicking the appropriate links

• Mental health services
• Health inequalities
• The balance of care
• Pathways into sport

In addition it agreed to consider research into the measurement of health outcomes.
