The remit of the committee is to consider and report on the Scottish economy, enterprise, energy, tourism and all other matters falling within the responsibility of the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth apart from those covered by the remits of the Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change and the Local Government and Communities Committees.

Current Business

Work programme

Committee meetings normally take place fortnightly. Further information can be found on the work programme page.

At its meeting on 3 October 2007, the Committee agreed that its main priorities for inquiries will be:

  • Energy
  • Tourism

The Committee agreed its remit and terms of reference for both inquiries.

Inquiry into tourism

The Committee has now completed its inquiry into the feasibility of achieving 50% growth in tourist revenue by 2015. Further information can be found on the inquiry home page. A copy of the report can be found here.

Inquiry into energy

The Committee is undertaking an inquiry into Scotland's energy future. Further information can be found on the energy inquiry home page.

Scottish Register of Tartans Bill

The Committee has been designated lead committee in consideration of the Scottish Register of Tartans Bill.

6. Subordinate legislation: The Committee will consider the Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2008 (SSI 2008/246) (negative procedure) and take evidence from —

Mr Colin Imrie, Head, Energy Consents Unit, and Debbie McCall, Energy Consents Unit Manager, Scottish Government.
