SOCIAL INCLUSION COMMITTEE TO DATABASE HOUSING LEGISLATION CONTACTS

At its last meeting of the summer term, the Social Inclusion, Housing and the Voluntary Sector Committee agreed to take a strategic approach to the collection of evidence for its impending scrutiny of housing related legislation.

It is anticipated that the Committee will be preparing Stage 1 reports in the autumn term on:

1. Robert Brown MSP's Members' Bill on Family Homes and Homelessness;

2. Cathie Craigie MSP's Members' Bill on Mortgage Rights;

3. The proposed Executive housing legislation (Housing Bill).

The Committee wishes to compile a database of those interested in submitting evidence to assist in the Committee's scrutiny of this legislation.

Appropriate parties are therefore invited to express their areas of interest in the content of the above legislation. The Committee will keep these parties informed of progress, and will call upon written or oral briefings at the appropriate times.

If parties wish to make any comments on the above legislation at this time, it should take the form of a very brief submission to the clerks of the Committee (preferably in email format) by Monday 21 August 2000.

Submissions should be emailed to the Committee's public mailbox:

email: social.inclusion.committee@scottish.parliament.uk
