PHOTO CALL: THE CONCISE SCOTS DICTIONARY PRESENTED TO PARLIAMENT |

A copy of the Concise Scots Dictionary is to be presented to the Scottish Parliament by the Scottish National Dictionary Association tomorrow (Friday, November, 26) To mark the occasion, Presiding Officer Sir David Steel will hold a photo call for press photographers and TV cameras in the Parliaments main chamber. The Presiding Officer will be pictured next to the mace, receiving the special gilt-edged leather bound edition. Members of the media wishing to attend the photo call should assemble at the quadrangle steps entrance to the Parliaments main chamber at 12.00 noon on Friday. Eric MacLeod from the Media Relations Officer will be present. Media both accredited and unaccredited to the Parliament are welcome.
BACKGROUND NOTES The dictionary will be presented to Sir David Steel by Sir Kenneth Alexander, President of the Scottish National Dictionary Association. The dictionary is made by Tom Valentine Limited, Carronvale Bindery of Larbert. The use of the Scots language in Parliament was recently raised in the Parliaments Procedures Committee on Tuesday, November, 16.
