064/2006 | 8 August, 2006

St Luke's Orchestra

The 50th anniversary of the American-Scottish Foundation (ASF) is to be celebrated at the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 15 August with an orchestral recital.

The New York City-based Orchestra of St Luke's will perform its international debut at Holyrood, led by Scottish conductor, Donald Runnicles, OBE.

Presiding Officer George Reid will host the celebration. He said:

"It is a real pleasure to welcome the American-Scottish Foundation to Holyrood and acknowledge the affection many Americans have for Scotland and the Scottish people.

"Holyrood is a fitting venue to celebrate this special anniversary and commemorate the historical links between our two countries."

Seven pairs of tickets to the event are available through a public ballot. If you wish to put your name forward please email sp.bookings@scottish.parliament.uk or telephone 0131 348 5220 by midday on Monday 14 August.

The successful applicants will be notified by 2pm on Monday 14 August.

Later in the week the orchestra of St Luke's will go on to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival and the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
