His Holiness the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet, is to visit the Scottish Parliament next year during a visit to Scotland. The Nobel Peace Prize winner will lead the Parliament in Time for Reflection in the Chamber and meet with MSPs.

Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer George Reid said:

" We look forward to His Holiness sharing his thoughts with Members, when he leads the Parliament in Time for Reflection next year. As a world renowned religious leader, I am sure there will be international interest in the Dalai Lama’s visit.”

The Scottish Parliament is broadcast live on the web. Viewers all over the world will be able to follow proceedings in the Chamber during the Dalai Lama’s visit at:

Time for Reflection will be the first item of business in the Chamber when His Holiness visits on Wednesday 2 June 2004.

Time for Reflection is normally the first item of business taken each week in the Chamber. It gives people with a wide range of faiths and beliefs the chance to share their thoughts with the Scottish Parliament and has been widely welcomed by many religious groups and other organisations.
