SIR DAVID STEEL PAYS TRIBUTE TO ENRIC MIRALLES

The Scottish Parliament has received the very sad news that Enric Miralles has died today at his home in Barcelona.

Presiding Officer, Sir David Steel said:

"The Parliament wishes to express its very sincere condolonces to Enric's wife Benadetta, their children Katerina and Dominic, and their colleagues both in Barcelona and Edinburgh.

"All those who have worked with Enric since the early part of 1998 could not but help be impressed by his ability, integrity and above all his commitment to The Scottish Parliament Project.

"Enric's legacy to the Parliament and Scotland is a fantastic design which was recently approved by the Parliament. As is clear from the on-site construction, and despite this terrible shock to all concerned, there is no doubt that this project can and will be completed."
