Fresh Perspectives on Alcohol and Drugs
3 April 2008 The last Scotland’s Futures Forum seminar ahead of the publication of a report on ‘Fresh Perspectives on Alcohol and Drugs’ takes place in Holyrood on Thursday (3 April). Discussions will explore the links between inequalities and substance misuse in the morning with debates around abstention and treatment in the afternoon.
 
Radical drug law reform to be debated at Futures Forum event
11 March 2008 Controversial law reform carried out in Canada and Australia to reduce the harm of illegal drugs is the focus of a Scottish Futures Forum event at Holyrood today. Australian drug expert Dr Alex Wodak will talk about how prohibition takes away a community’s ability to control the supply of drugs, while Canadian Senator Larry Campbell will talk about the politics of drug law reform.
 

Industry's role in reducing alcohol harm focus of Futures Forum event

6 February 2008 The work of the alcohol industry to reduce the damage caused by alcohol is the focus of an event to be held at the Scottish Parliament tomorrow. Alcohol industry leaders will be joined by a senior public health official and the chief executive of a charity committed to changing Scotland’s drinking culture to debate how the industry can tackle alcohol misuse in Scottish society.
 
Scotland Futures Forum to look at Ground-Breaking Techniques to Break Addiction
4 December 2007 Health professionals and carers will get the chance to learn about the latest techniques used in the United States to break alcohol and drug addictions at an event at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday (6 December).
 
Futures Forum seminar: Using the truth to tackle alcohol and drug misuse
17 October 2007 Scotland’s Futures Forum will look at whether false perceptions about other people’s drinking habits are contributing to the problem of excessive drinking, in an upcoming seminar at the Scottish Parliament organised by the Scottish Association of Alcohol and Drug Action Teams.
 
Young Scots help Futures Forum study on alcohol and drug use
4 October 2007 Scotland's Futures Forum is engaging the help of school pupils as part of a study into alcohol and drug use in Scotland. The Futures project is looking at how Scotland can reduce the damage to its population through alcohol and drugs by half by the year 2025.
 
Alcohol and drug treatment in the EU: Are there lessons for Scotland?
26 September 2007 Scotland’s approach to alcohol and drug treatment will be in the spotlight at a Futures Forum lecture held as part of the 'Fresh Perspectives on Alcohol and Drugs' project.
 
Scotland’s Futures Forum announces project board members for alcohol and drugs study
17 May 2007 Holyrood’s think-tank, Scotland’s Futures Forum, has announced the membership of its Project Board which will lead an innovative year-long study into alcohol and drugs use in Scotland. The investigation entitled “Fresh Perspectives on Alcohol and Drugs” will seek to establish a new political perspective on Scotland’s approach to alcohol and drugs.
