About the image: This image shows one of the routes to the public gallery of the debating chamber. On the left hand wall you can see the blue and red wood of the artwork entitled Coble, by Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925 -2006) with Peter Grant. The artist said: "Joined, they would make, we see, a boat, but as they are presented we see also
an abstraction, blue or red coloured planks with their separateness underlined
or proved by the disjointed lettering at the 'bow' or forward edge". (Remember you can zoom in to see areas of the image more closely using the 'A' key on your keyboard.)
The public gallery is also accessible by lift. Opposite the stairs, beyond the pillars, is the education centre. See the view of the chamber from the public gallery.
If you're planning a visit to Holyrood in person, information including guided tour details and opening times is available in our Visitor section. |
