Peter Peacock MSP
I was elected to the first Scottish Parliament as a Labour MSP from the Highlands & Islands Regional List.
Immediately prior to coming to the Parliament I was the Leader/Convenor of Highland Council. I was a Councillor in Highland Region prior to that, being first elected in 1982. I held various positions during that time as Finance Convenor, Chair of Policy and Resources Committee and Deputy Leader/Vice-Convenor. I am a past Vice-President of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities and a former Member of the European Committee of the Regions; Council of Europe; Scottish Post Office Board and Scottish Natural Heritage.
I ran my own business in partnership with two others - The Apt Partnership for a number of years and prior to that I worked for the Citizens Advice Bureaux service nationally and was also Community Worker for a time.
I am married, have two adult sons, and I try to spend the little spare time I have bird watching and cooking.
