Remuneration:

Until 4 May 2007 I was employed on a full time basis as Director of the Scottish Low Pay Unit, a research, information and advice service dealing with pay and employment rights and whose principle business address is 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow G3 6NG. I received annual remuneration of between £30,001 and £35,000.

I am currently an elected local government Councillor for North Lanarkshire Council (Civic Centre, Motherwell, ML1). I work two half days and two evenings a month. I will not be receiving any salary, pension or personal expenses. In 2007/08 North Lanarkshire Council paid the cost of £50 associated with the provision of a mobile phone for council duties. [Registered 31 May 2007, Amended interest 13 June 2008]

In September 2007 I participated in an opinion survey carried out by Ipsos MORI Scotland (of 4 Wemyss Place, Edinburgh, EH3 6DH). I received no direct direct payment or expenses. Ipsos MORI Scotland (an opinion research company) undertook this survey on behalf of a number of clients who were not identified to me. Ipsos MORI Scotland donated £100 to the Scottish Wildlife Trust around the 23 November 2007, therefore this remuneration falls into the 'up to £500 per annum' bandwidth. [Registered 29 November 2007]

On 22 April 2008 I participated in a Parliamentary Research Panel opinion survey undertaken by ComRes (of Covenham House, Downside Road, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 3EP). I received no direct payment of expenses. ComRes (a polling company) undertook this survey on behalf of their clients who were not identified to me. ComRes donated £50 to Auchengeich Retired Miners Bowling Club on 22 June 2008; therefore this remuneration falls into the ‘up to £500 per annum’ bandwidth. [Registered 25 June 2008]
