On 4 August 2008 I took part in a telephone interview carried out by Populus Limited (of Northburgh House, 10 Northburgh Street, London, EC1V 0AT). I received no direct payment or expenses. Populus Limited (a market research company) undertook this survey on behalf of a UK supermarket although I was not aware of the client until the end of the interview. On 10 and 11 September 2007 I visited Brussels. The trip was a familiarisation visit for members of the European and External Relations Committee organised and paid for by the European Commission. The estimated cost of the flights, meals and accommodation was £456 (Hotel 170euros; Flights 440euros; Dinner
