Parliament gets back to business
Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson MSP, flanked by Parliament Clerks The Scottish Parliament will meet for two full days of debate in the Chamber next week on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday’s business will begin at 9.30am with Time for Reflection, while Thursday’s agenda will begin with Parliamentary Bureau Motions at 9am. Asbestos Damages Bill

Insurance companies, academics and representatives from Clydeside Action on Asbestos will be among those giving evidence to the Justice Committee in committee room 1 on Tuesday at 10.15am as part of their scrutiny of the Damages (Asbestos-Related Conditions) (Scotland) Bill. The Bill seeks to ensure that a House of Lords judgment does not have an effect in Scotland and that individuals with pleural plaques caused by wrongful exposure to asbestos can raise an action for damages.

Holyrood Highlights returns
An interview on Holyrood Highlights The Parliament's weekly programme Holyrood Highlights returns this Thursday morning at 11.45am. The first webcast of the new session will cover the Rural Affairs Committee's visit to Melrose on Tuesday to investigate issues surrounding rural housing and will also look at MSP Ted Brocklebank's debate on the A92 on Wednesday. Rural Affairs committee to hold first ever meeting in Melrose
Melrose Rural housing will be the focus of a visit of the Rural Affairs and Environment Committee to Melrose at the start of next week. The committee, headed by convener Roseanna Cunningham, will be at the town’s Corn Exchange on Tuesday to hear about housing issues affecting local people and businesses. The event is part of the evidence-gathering phase of the committee’s inquiry into rural housing in Scotland.

Changes to guided tours at Holyrood
Holyrood pictured from the front plazaThe Parliament returns from its summer break next Monday and this will result in a few changes for visitors to Holyrood. Guided tours will run every day this week, but from the end of recess there will usually be no guided tours between Tuesday and Thursday, as parliamentary business will be taking place. Tours will be available for the rest of the week though, including on Saturdays. Please visit our Guided Tours section for further details of the tours, including prices and how to book.
