Education Assistants (Part-time, Sessional)

Education Assistants - 8 posts                                                                      Inward - 5 posts, based in Edinburgh, one post Gaelic speaking
Outreach - 3 posts, one post Gaelic speaking, based in the following areas:                    East Central Southern Scotland, West Central Southern Scotland and Highlands

Education and Community Partnerships is a new team which will deliver a variety of educational services to support MSPs and to enable the people of Scotland to engage with the Scottish Parliament. You will be responsible for engaging proactively with young people and teachers by facilitating educational sessions either at Holyrood or in schools across Scotland.

Ideally you will have a teaching, education, training or similar relevant qualification along with one year’s practical experience. Alternatively you should be able to demonstrate at least two years’ experience in giving presentations to a wide range of ages as part of education programmes or events. Outreach assistants will work from home, based in the areas highlighted above and the roles will require extensive travel on a daily basis, sometimes to areas where public transport is limited or not available. Applicants for the Gaelic posts must have a good standard of spoken Gaelic.

Working pattern is 25 hours a week, over school term times. This means the equivalent of 42 weeks, excluding the Parliament’s Christmas recess and summer recess (July and August).
Salary scale is £18,076 progressing to £21,530 (pro rata) within 3 years subject to performance.
