AUDIT ADVISORY BOARD - ADDITIONAL INDEPENDENT MEMBER
The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) is responsible for providing the Scottish Parliament with the property, staff and services required for the Parliament’s purposes. As part of its governance arrangements, the SPCB has established an Audit Advisory Board (AAB). The main purpose of the AAB is to provide advice to the Parliament’s Clerk/Chief Executive (who is also the Principal Accountable Officer) and, where appropriate, the SPCB on internal control and corporate governance matters.
The Board currently comprises two members of the SPCB and three independent persons, one of whom is chair of the AAB. The time commitment for the independent members is expected to be around 8 days per year and remuneration is currently £8,832 per annum. We are currently seeking a fourth independent member of the AAB. As the member is independent, he or she will not be an employee under this arrangement.
Expressions of interest are invited from persons ideally with a legal background and an interest in public affairs who can demonstrate a high level of achievement. Expert knowledge of corporate governance is essential whether in the private or public sectors. Candidates who meet the requirements for this appointment will be asked to complete an application form, on the basis of which candidates will be invited for interview.
Further information on the activities of the SPCB, the full remit of the AAB and an application form can be obtained by writing to Andrew Munro, Head of Internal Audit, The Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh EH99 1SP; by e-mailing: andrew.munro@scottish.parliament.uk or by phoning 0131 348 6133. Closing date for completed application forms is Friday 11 July 2008.
The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and treatment and to eliminating unfair discrimination.
