The Scottish Parliament’s 2008 Meet the Buyer event was based on practical workshops led by Scottish Parliament purchasing staff. The workshops were designed to help small SMEs and Social Economy Organisations bid successfully for Public Sector contracts:

CIPS EVENT - HOLYROOD - 12 February 2007

Procurement Services hosted a Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) event at The Scottish Parliament on 12 February 2007.

The event proved to be extremely popular and was over subscribed within days of the event being advertised. The event comprised of a tour of our award winning building followed by a presentation by Lynn Garvie, Head of Procurement Services, on “Buying in a Political Environment”.

The event is considered to be a huge success with positive feedback from CIPS members.

MEET THE BUYER - HOLYROOD - 11 OCTOBER 2006

Procurement Services held its annual “Meet the Buyer” event on 11 October 2006 which, once again, was a huge success.

The event comprised of three main elements: presentations; workshops and “one to one” meetings between suppliers and relevant purchasers. Additionally, Committee Room 1 was utilised as a networking area, with information and demonstrations available. The slides used during the presentations can be accessed as follows:

The Procurement Process – taking suppliers through the process of awarding contracts from determining an appropriate procurement strategy to managing the contract
Responsible Purchasing – raising awareness of this SPCB initiative, highlighting how purchasers and suppliers can contribute
Supplier Selection – a practical presentation on how suppliers should approach written submissions to be selected to tender

SUPPLIER EVENT - HOLYROOD - 17 AUGUST 2005

Procurement Services held an event on "Strategic Developments in Scottish Parliament Procurement". The aim of the event was to communicate strategic procurement initiatives with current contractors and create an environment for contractors and buyers to meet and discuss issues of interest.

Paul Grice, Clerk/Chief Executive, and Lynn Garvie, Head of Procurement, addressed the event in addition to a presentation from Denis McFadden, Senior Purchasing Manager, and the slides can be accessed as follows:
