Petition by Derek Rosie and Colin McCall. on behalf of Penicuik Community Education Association, calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to review the provision of community leisure facilities across Scotland, given for example the proposed closure of Ladywood and Queensway Community Leisure Centres and the Jackson Street Community Learning Centre facilities in Penicuik.

Summary:
Written Submissions for PE990
27 September 2006 : The Public Petitions Committee agreed to invite the Scottish Executive to indicate whether it intends to review the provision of community leisure facilities across Scotland.
20 March 2007 : The Public Petitions Committee noted the lack of a response to this petition from the Scottish Executive and agreed to write to the relevant Minister to seek a response and an explanation for the delay.
4 September 2007 : The Public Petitions Committee noted the lack of a response to this petition from the Scottish Executive and agreed to write again to the Minister for Communities and Sport.
18 December 2007 : The Committee agreed to group consideration of this petition with PE966 and PE1041 and to write to the Scottish Government seeking a response on what specific action it is taking to address the specific issues raised in each petition and to set out its strategy and timetable for a programme to provide funding to improve sporting and leisure facilities. The Committee also agreed to consider whether the petition might be referred to the Health and Sport Committee for further consideration as part of its pathways into sport inquiry and, in the meantime, to forward a copy of it to that Committee.
