Petition by George McAulay calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to provide a right for an individual charged with any criminal offence to elect for a jury trial; for that right to be more accessible to those involved in civil litigation when the initial hearing and subsequent appeals to a Sheriff Principal and/or the Court of Session have been exhausted; and for the jury’s decision in such civil cases to be the final domestic appeal process before going to the European Court of Justice
