Summary:

Written Submissions for PE1088

20 November 2007 :   The Committee agreed to seek responses to the issues raised in the petition from the Scottish Funding Council, the Scottish Government, the Association of Scottish Colleges and the University College Union. Link to Official Report 20 November 2007

19 February 2008 :   The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government seeking a further response on what actions it has taken that might encourage or create opportunity for discussion with trade unions and the further education sector on the option of establishing sector-wide negotiations on pay and terms and conditions for further education lecturers. It also agreed to seek view from the further education sector. Link to Official Report 19 February 2008

10 June 2008 :   The Committee agreed to close the petition on the grounds that the Scottish Parliament is not going to conduct an inquiry into this matter and that the issue of pay and conditions of further education lecturing staff is a matter between the staff and the individual colleges to negotiate. Further, that there are other fora, such as within the further education sector, where consideration of this matter can be taken forward. Link to Official Report 10 June 2008
