Summary:
Written Submissions for PE1084
4 December 2007 : The Committee agreed to seek responses to the issues raised in the petition from the Scottish Government, Scottish Public Health Network, Neurological Alliance of Scotland, NHS Grampian, NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service, highlighting in particular the issues of accessibility, nature and volume of care involved as well as the impact on other services that the centralisation of neurological units might have. 19 February 2008 : The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government on what the conclusions and recommendations are of the Neuroscience Implementation Group and what action it is taking in the light of that report including, how it will be consulting, with whom, on what and the timetable for taking this matter forward. It also agreed to write to the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network on its revision of the existing guidelines on the early management of head injury and what consideration these guidelines will give to the matter of the time and distance a patient may have to travel for treatment. 24 June 2008 : The Committee agreed to close the petition on the grounds that the Scottish Government has announced that neurosurgery services will be retained at all four sites in Scotland following the report from the Neuroscience Implementation Group that highlighted the lack of clear evidence to support a single site. Further, that the petitioner will be involved in the work being taken forward in developing the detail of the Managed Clinical Network for national neurological standards and services.
