2 October 2007 :   The Public Petitions Committee agreed to seek views on the petition from the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Retail Consortium and COSLA. Link to Official Report - 2 October 2007 

29 January 2008 :   The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government seeking an update, at the conclusion of the Competition Commission’s inquiry, on what impact the recommendations and outcomes of that inquiry will have on Scottish planning policy in relation to applications for supermarket developments and clarification of the ongoing monitoring that takes place in residential areas close to such developments. 13 May 2008 :   The Committee agreed to close consideration of this petition on the grounds that it is for each local authority to ensure compliance with all relevant planning statutes, policies and advice notes when considering individual planning applications for supermarket developments, for example, in terms of notification, consultation, environmental impact, sustainability, public transport links.
