Petition by Kate Mackintosh, on behalf of the Student members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in Scotland, calling on the Scottish Parliament to investigate the merits of extending the ‘One Year Job Guarantee’ employment assistance for newly qualified nurses and midwives to include newly qualified physiotherapists in Scotland, with particular reference to the benefits for patient care.

2 October 2007 :   The Public Petitions Committee agreed to seek views on the petition from the Scottish Government, the Scottish Funding Council, Universities Scotland and the National Workforce Committee. Link to Official Report - 2 October 2007 

15 January 2008 :   The Committee agreed to seek a response to the issues raised in the petition from the Scottish Government to the detailed points made by the petitioner in its written submission and whether any of these matters might be appropriate for further detailed consideration under the auspices of the National Solutions Group of which the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in Scotland is a member. 15 April 2008 :   The Committee agreed to close consideration of this petition on the grounds that the National Solutions Group for Physiotherapy, of which the petitioner is a member, recently met to consider the issues raised in the petition in the wider context of physiotherapist workforce planning and agreed that a ‘One Year Job Guarantee’ would not be appropriate and that the group agreed to work with all stakeholders to agree the future shape of physiotherapy workforce planning in Scotland.
