Petition by Mike Lowe, on behalf of members of Premier Bingo Clubs in Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath and Edinburgh, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to recognise that bingo clubs have been hit by both the smoking ban and an unfair system of taxation and to make representations to the UK Government to tax the bingo industry in the same way as it does the rest of the gaming industry.

19 February 2008 : The Committee agreed to close consideration of this petition on the grounds that the issues raised in the petition, such as the impact of taxation levels on the bingo industry, are best taken forward through consideration by HM Treasury and that the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport is working closely with the Bingo Association to develop ways in which it can assist the industry.
