13 December 2006 : The Public Petitions Committee agreed to link consideration of petition PE1018 with petitions PE920 and PE922 and to await the responses of the petitioners before deciding what further action to take in relation to these petitions. Link to Official Report 13 December 2006
20 March 2007 : The Public Petitions Committee agreed to seek the views of the Scottish Executive on the responses received from the petitioners and in particular on whether it will introduce a statutory obligation to provide dental care on the NHS. Link to Official Report - 20 March 2007
6 November 2007 : The Committee agreed to seek a further response to these petitions from the Scottish Government and seek the views of the Scottish Health Council and the British Dental Association. Link to Official Report 06 November 2007
19 February 2008 : The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government seeking a further response in six months time with a progress report on demonstrable improvements that have been made in enhancing and improving access to NHS dental services in all parts of Scotland, on how it is increasing retention amongst dentists in the NHS and whether it is on line to meet the targets set out in the dental action plan. 7 October 2008 : The Committee agreed to close consideration of the petitions on the grounds that the Scottish Government has stated that demonstrable improvements in the provision of dental services have been made. However, in closing the petitions, the Committee agreed to invite the Scottish Government to provide the petitioners with regular updates on how further work in this area is progressing.
