29 November 2006 :   The Public Petitions Committee agreed to seek views on the petition from the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation, Scottish Natural Heritage, the Shetland Shellfish Management Organisation, the North Atlantic Fisheries College, the RSPB and the Scottish Executive and to seek the views of the petitioner on the responses received. 26 June 2007 :   The Public Petitions Committee agreed to seek an update from the Scottish Executive in relation to its review of the Shetland Shellfish Management Organisation’s approach to licensing and its review of the effectiveness of the Shetland Regulating Order. 18 December 2007 :   The Committee agreed to seek a further response from the Scottish Government on the issues around this petition. Link to Official Report 18 December 2007 

9 September 2008 :   The Committee agreed to close consideration of the petition on the grounds that the Scottish Government has considered the issues raised in the petition and decided not to revoke the order. Rather it has issued specific recommendations to the Shetland Shellfish Management Organisation. Further, the petitioner has established an effective line of communication with the Scottish Government to progress the issues raised in the petition. Link to Official Report 9 September 2008
